Review #10: Makeup Revolution Oil Control Fixing Spray

I’m just gonna put this out there – I’m pretty oily.

To the point where people have actually mistaken my oily skin for highlighter.

Yeah.

So I thought I should write a review on one of my holy grail products which has really helped me keep the oil at bay.

Today’s review is on the Makeup Revolution Pro Fix Oil Control Fixing Spray (I think that’s the name?) which I buy for £5 from Superdrug. It’s a 100ml bottle which didn’t seem like much to me at first but since I only use a few spritz of it everyday, one bottle tends to last me at least 3 months.

I think I’m on my third bottle of this now, simply because it does exactly what it claims to do. It keeps my makeup in place for the entire day, which usually about 10 hours, as well as keeping my oiliness to a minimum.

The thing is, it doesn’t stop me from being completely oily to the point where I look flat and sort of dry. In fact, it somehow manages to let just the right amount of my natural oils peek through so that my skin looks like genuine skin. For some people this could be a con, but personally I’ve learnt that it’s not the best idea to make your skin completely matte. It can highlight some of the things you might not want highlighted and it seriously ages you. Allowing a little bit of your natural oils through makes your skin look more youthful and fresh.

Now, another reason why I’m so in love with this setting spray is that it works incredibly well with my primer. I don’t know what it is but when I use my body shop instablur primer and set my makeup once it’s all done with this spray, my skin looks practically poreless. It removes any possibility of cakey-looking skin and allows everything to settle perfectly.

I don’t really have anything negative to say about it other than the fact that the mist isn’t as fine when you’re running low on product but it still works brilliantly.

Once again, I’ve rambled quite a bit but basically what I’m saying is that you should definitely check this out!

Thanks for reading,

Safa x
