I think I’ve found my pot of gold.
Cushion products are nothing new when it comes to foundations but when I heard MUA had made a cushion highlighter I was pretty intrigued.
I bought this from Superdrug for £5 which isn’t bad but it’s from MUA’s Luxe collection which is a little more pricier than their standard range.
It’s quite pretty in my opinion, I like the gold. The plastic compact feels study too so it should survive a few drops here and there which is always good. Inside the compact, there’s a small mirror making it great for touch ups but I’m personally not one for reapplying highlighter. It comes with its own little puff which I recommend you clean every now and then to keep it hygienic. The puff is really easy to use and is perfect for highlighting the cheekbones.
Quick note, make sure you properly seal everything once you’re done with it, because it’s in a cushion you want to make sure it doesn’t dry out and go funny.
The actual product:
So. The highlight itself.
I love it.
That’s a pretty bold thing for me to say, I’m extremely fussy with highlighters because I want the right shade and reflect that will compliment my warm undertone without being too glittery and making me look like a disco ball.
Quite a lot to ask for but this highlighter really delivers on that. It’s a lovely flattering peachy-gold shade with tiny glitter particles that don’t bring out any bad features. This highlight blends really easily and is buildable, it gives a really pretty glow which is what I love and doesn’t make me look like I’ve got a stripe of glitter on my face.
It usually lasts around 3-4 hours on my skin but I don’t set it so it’s not a major issue for me. I’m sure that if you set it wit a powder highlighter then it should last you the entire day. It doesn’t completely disappear after 8 hours, it tends to leave a soft sheen on my cheekbones.
I prefer using this on my cheekbones and browbone but I find it doesn’t last as well on my cupids bow. The highlighter looks great on the nose too but I’m not as into putting it there.
Overall, this highlighter is so worth the price and I’m so glad I’ve got it! This is a lovely addition to my makeup collection and I really recommend it. I think MUA have more highlighters in this range so I might try them out too.
